Professional career

After working in ICT-service and system administration as a student side-job, Willem Oosting started his professional career as a web-developer. He used open source CMS solutions to create user friendly company websites (e.g. Magnaview). Subsequently he worked as a usability researcher within the European vip-LAB project to enhance telemedicine systems from a user centered perspective. However, his scientific interests in human behavior and computer science made him return to academics and he became a scholar within the Game Experience LAB at the TU/e where he is currently studying parental mediation on children's gaming behavior for the European Games At Large project in his pursue for a doctorate.

Education

Willem Oosting holds a BSc in mechatronical engineering from Fontys UPE (2001) and a MSc degree in Human Technology Interaction from the TU/e (2006). He engaged in various CAD and software development projects within the field of robotics as an undergraduate student. Subsequently he he was involved in various perception and cognition projects on a more theoretical level (e.g.: quantification of 3d viewing experience and transferability of visual feedback on exponential growth estimations). His Human Technology Interaction master’s thesis focused on appliance of non-stereoscopic 3d cues in a virtual window to elicit a 'see through experience' which got published in Presence (MIT) after a revision by his supervisor.
